DEATH OF MRS. HACKETT
The death of Mrs. Elizabeth Hackett, relict of the late Capt. A. A. Hackett of Wiarton, took place at her late residence, King St. Preston, on Tuesday evening at seven o'clock. Deceased lady had been growing feeble for the past year, and being 78 years old did not seem to rally, though everything possible was done by her daughter and her attending physician; she took more seriously ill a short time ago and gradually grew weaker from natural decay of powers until the end came peacefully on Tuesday evening while she was surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Hackett was born in Glengarry, Ontario in 1825, was married to her deceased husband in 1857. A family of four sons and two daughters were born to them, they are; Mrs. F. Cordick, Tara; Miss Jennie at home; Alfred, Wiarton; William, Goderich; Alexander, Mt. Forest, and Angus of Port Huron, Mich. Mrs. Hackett with her devoted daughter, Miss Jennie Hackett, came to Preston five years ago and have since conducted a most successful millinery business here making many firm friends in both social and business circles. Deceased lady was a faithful member of the Presbyterian church for many years. Since sympathy is expressed for her daughter Miss Hackett and the family. Funeral services were held at the late residence of the deceased at 4 p.m. Wednesday, after which the body was taken to the Grand Trunk station for removal to Wiarton, where internment will take place on Thursday at 3 o'clock p.m.
