Gladys Yocum

Greenup, IL \emdash Gladys Marie Yocum, 97, of Greenup, passed away at 3:10 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010, at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Effingham.

Funeral services celebrating Gladys' life will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Bishop Funeral Home, Greenup, with the Rev. Ed Davis officiating. Burial will be in Mullen Cemetery, Montrose. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. In loving memory of Gladys, memorials may be made to Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Effingham.

Gladys was born May 6, 1912, in Jasper County, the daughter of James and Lydia (Varvil) McClellan. She married Elmer Yocum June 30, 1928, and he preceded her in death April 6, 1988. Gladay was a member of Greenup United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star.

Gladys is survived by two daughters, Lois (husband, Lloyd) Flood of Effingham, and Sharon (husband, Richard) Collins of Montrose; one daughter-in-law, Betty Yocum of Toledo; eight grandchildren, Billy Dean (wife, Sue) Yocum of Charleston, Denis (wife, Kristy) Yocum of Toledo, Danny (wife, Arlene) Flood of Teutopolis, Nancy (husband, Ray) Moses and Kay (husband, Brad) Hornbeck, both of Greenup, Teresa (husband, Mike) Blattell of Cape Giradeau, Mo., Lisa Dunn of Effingham, and Chris Collins of Mattoon; and 18 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren, nine step-great-grandchildren and 13 step-great-great-grandchildren. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elmer; her son, William in 2002; five sisters; and one brother.
